Frequently Asked Questions
How many levels deep can my org chart go?
There is no hard limit — keep adding people under people. Past four or five levels, the Outline or Groups layout keeps the chart readable.
Can I use this for non-organizational hierarchies?
You can, but the hierarchy chart maker (/tools/hierarchy-chart-maker) is built for taxonomies, decision trees and other trees that are not about people.
Can I add it to a larger infographic?
Not inside this studio: it downloads a finished chart as a PNG (SVG with Pro) for a slide or a document. For a full infographic, the /editor has a Hierarchy widget you can combine with stat cards, text and charts.
Can I style individual nodes differently?
Yes — select a person’s card and pick a color for it. The Style panel sets the look of the whole chart.
What is the easiest way to create an org chart?
Start with the top role, add direct reports one level at a time with Add person, and let the chart draw the reporting lines. Keep names and titles short so the chart stays readable.
