Frequently Asked Questions

How do I group events into phases?

Add an era — Act I, Act II — and the events underneath it group into that period. Eras are what stop a long timeline reading as an undifferentiated list of dates.

Can I mark certain events as more important?

Yes. Flag an event as a milestone and it renders with emphasis, so a funding round or a launch stands out from routine entries.

What are the four layouts?

Chronicle is the classic narrative timeline. Ledger is compact and dense for many entries. Agenda suits schedules and running orders. Poster is display-first for a wall or a slide.

How do I edit the dates and descriptions?

Click any date, title, or description on the timeline and type. You can also add an event directly between two existing ones rather than adding at the end and reordering.

How many events is too many?

Past about a dozen, switch to the Ledger layout or group them into eras. A timeline that needs scrolling to compare its first and last entry has stopped doing the job a timeline exists for.

Can I get the text out of it?

Yes — Export text gives you the events as plain text, which is useful for reusing the same chronology in a doc, a post, or a deck.

Can I animate the timeline?

Yes. Events can draw in along the line, pop, or drop, at three speeds. Preview is free; MP4 export is Pro.

What is this good for?

Company history, product launches, project retrospectives, life stories, and course syllabi — anything where the sequence and the gaps between events carry meaning.
