Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use an area chart instead of a line chart?

When the volume under the line matters, not just the trend — traffic, revenue, or usage where the accumulated total is part of the point. For pure comparison of directions, a line chart is cleaner.

Can I show more than one series?

Yes. Keep the fills semi-transparent so overlapping areas stay readable; past three series, stacking or a line chart is usually the better call.

How do I get my data in?

Paste your columns straight from a spreadsheet — label plus values — and the chart builds. You can also switch between area, line, and point views of the same data without re-entering it.

Can I edit the labels on the chart?

Yes — click the title, axis labels, or series names on the chart itself and type. What you see is exactly what exports.

Should an area chart start at zero?

Yes. The filled region encodes magnitude, so a truncated axis exaggerates the shape badly — much more so than on a line chart where only the slope is being read.

Can I animate it?

Yes — draw, typewriter, drop, elastic, pulse, wave, or mirror. Preview is free; MP4 export is Pro.

What is this used for?

Traffic over time, revenue trends, cumulative signups, resource usage, and forecasts — anywhere the total accumulated matters alongside the direction.
