How to Use

Choose a starter before entering your plan
Select Traffic, Budget, Survey or Revenue under Data. A starter replaces the headings, categories, values and pie/donut settings, including the center caption, and resets canvas zoom. Choose it first, then replace the sample title and subtitle.

Enter every part of the same whole
Click the legend labels and values to edit them. Use one unit throughout, such as minutes for every activity in a workshop. Add slice creates a category with a sample value: replace that value before using the chart. Select a slice to edit its value in the toolbar or remove it; at least two categories are retained.

Check the numbers and shares
Choose Percent, Value, Both or None under Slice labels. Percentages are calculated from the sum of the entered values and rounded to whole numbers. Type planned or measured values directly. Dragging a rim handle changes two neighboring values while preserving their combined total; it does not just change the appearance.

Use a circle or a ring with the right caption
Choose pie for a solid circle or donut for a ring. A ring can show a Total, a Label or no center content. Click the center caption to replace the starter wording with the correct unit or context: a time plan should say Minutes, not Responses. Use the Right or Bottom legend to keep category names visible.

Inspect the downloaded image
Choose a theme and canvas size, then Download PNG. Standard PNG is free without signup or a watermark. Open the file and check its title, units, values and readable labels at the size you will use. Canvas zoom changes the preview, not export resolution; HD PNG, SVG and video require Pro or an active export pass.

Worked example: a fictional 60-minute workshop
This is an invented time plan, not a record of an actual workshop. Allocate Demonstration 15 minutes, Practice 30, Discussion 10 and Break 5. The activities do not overlap and total 60 minutes. Their displayed shares are 25%, 50%, 17% and 8%; the last two are rounded from 16.67% and 8.33%.
Choose Survey before typing because it starts with four categories. Change the title to “Sample workshop time allocation” and the subtitle to “Illustrative plan: 60 minutes, not observed results”. Replace all four labels and values, in order, with Demonstration 15, Practice 30, Discussion 10 and Break 5.
Choose pie, the Studio theme, Both labels, the Right legend and Report size (960 × 620). Check that each category has the right number of minutes and that Practice occupies half the circle. Download the PNG and inspect the labels in the file, not only on the page.
Turn the same time plan into a ring
Switch Type to donut and choose Total for the center. The values and shares stay the same, and the total should be 60. The Survey starter leaves the caption “Responses” in the center: click it and type “Minutes”, then press Enter. The finished ring should say 60 Minutes.
Download another PNG and compare it with the solid circle: both should retain 15, 30, 10 and 5 and the same displayed shares. The ring provides space for the total and unit; it does not calculate a different distribution. Label can show custom center text without a total, while None leaves the center empty.
If you select Budget or another starter afterward, it replaces this example. Use the appearance controls to restyle the time plan instead. Save while signed in if you want an editable account copy; keep the original plan alongside the downloaded image.
Check what the whole represents
A circle is useful for non-overlapping parts of one defined total. It does not detect missing activities, overlapping time or mixed units. Include all parts of the period, and use minutes for every value rather than mixing minutes, hours and percentages. State whether the allocation is a plan, a measurement or a fictional example.
Use bar chart maker when you want to compare separate activity durations or small differences between similar values. A circle shows shares; it does not show the order in which activities happen. For a schedule, keep the sequence and start times in a separate agenda.
Choose a canvas for the intended document or slide, then inspect the exported file at that size. Keep category names and units readable, and retain a legend when colors alone would be ambiguous. A circle with many small parts may be clearer as a bar chart than as tightly packed slice labels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a circle chart different from a pie chart?
On this page, circle chart, circle graph and pie chart mean the same part-to-whole display. The pie setting makes a solid circle; donut makes a ring using the same values. Choose the shape and wording that help your audience understand the whole, rather than expecting a different calculation.
How are minutes or counts converted to percentages?
Each percentage is its value divided by the sum of all entered values, multiplied by 100. The chart does not read the duration in your title or add missing time automatically. Two activities of 30 and 15 minutes form a 45-minute total and display 67% and 33%, even if the title says one hour. Include the remaining activities before presenting a 60-minute plan.
Why can the displayed percentages total 99% or 101%?
Slice percentages are rounded to whole numbers. Three equal values display 33% each, totaling 99%, although the slices still cover the whole. Keep Both labels when the original values matter; do not change accurate data merely to force the rounded labels to total 100%.
Why does my ring still say Responses or Budget?
That caption comes from the selected starter and is not inferred from your new values. With donut selected, choose Total and click the center caption to rename it, for example to Minutes. Label shows custom text without the numeric total; None hides both. Rename the title and subtitle too when replacing a starter.
Which values are accepted, including zero?
Enter complete nonnegative numbers such as 15, 2.5 or 1e3, without commas, currency symbols, % signs or words. Invalid, negative, blank or out-of-range drafts show feedback and keep the latest accepted value; Enter, Escape or leaving the field restores it. A zero category has no slice area but remains in the legend. If all values are zero, the chart and PNG show Total: 0 and No positive values, with dashes for undefined shares. Keep the legend visible, or turn it back on, to enter a positive value and restore slices.
Will choosing another starter keep my time plan?
No. Traffic, Budget, Survey and Revenue replace the current headings, categories, values, chart type and center settings, and reset canvas zoom. To change the appearance while keeping your values, use Type, Theme, Slice labels, Legend and Size instead. The center caption remains yours to check when switching from a circle to a ring.
Which downloads are free?
Standard PNG is free without an account or watermark. HD PNG at 2×, 3× or 4×, SVG and animated video require Pro or an active export pass. Zooming the preview does not make a higher-resolution file. Inspect the actual download at its intended placement size; enlarging a standard PNG can soften its text.
Can I save the circle chart and edit it later?
Use Save while signed in to keep an editable design in your account; account storage limits apply. Downloading a PNG only creates a flattened image. It does not save an editable chart or preserve its individual values for reopening from that image.
