Paste a list of words, one per line, and the puzzle assembles itself. The placement engine sorts your words longest first, tries hundreds of random positions and directions for each, and lets words share letters where they cross — which is what makes a puzzle feel dense and hand-made rather than a sparse grid with obvious gaps. Everything left over is filled with random letters.

Spaces and punctuation are stripped automatically, so "ice cream" becomes ICECREAM and you do not have to clean your list first. Words longer than the grid are left out, so pick the grid size before pasting a long list. If a word fits but cannot be placed, the tool names it instead of quietly skipping it, so you never hand out a puzzle with a missing answer — try New puzzle or a bigger grid.

Click Answers to highlight every hidden word with a colored capsule, matched to a colored dot in the word bank. That is not just a preview — every download includes the key: the PDF holds the clean puzzle followed by its answer key, and the PNG option saves them as two images. You never have to solve your own puzzle to grade it.

The key is generated from the same grid you are looking at, so the two files always match. If you re-scramble with New puzzle, the next download gives you the new puzzle and its new key together.

Difficulty is not decoration here; it controls exactly which directions the engine may use. Easy places words across and down only, which suits early readers who scan in reading order. Medium adds the two diagonals. Hard opens all eight directions, including words spelled backwards, which is what makes a puzzle genuinely challenging for adults.

Combine difficulty with grid size for the right fit: 10×10 Easy for a first-grade spelling list, 12×12 Medium for a party or bulletin, and 15×15 Hard when you want the puzzle to take real time.
