How to Use

Choose a starter before collecting ideas
Choose a starter first: it replaces the topic, branches and ideas. Use Launch for the fictional book-swap example below, with four branches and three ideas each. Then rename the topic for your question.

Capture possibilities in groups
Choose Board and rename each branch for an angle to explore. Each card holds one branch and its ideas. Click the labels to replace them; Add branch creates a group, and Add idea on a selected branch adds a detail.

Review and regroup deliberately
Discuss duplicates, missing information and assumptions after collecting suggestions. Dragging in a map view changes placement, not branch membership. To regroup an idea, add it under the destination branch, check it, then remove the original.

Check a readable map
Choose Split or Tree to review the same labels and connections. Layout and canvas-size changes preserve the text but reset manual positions. Keep prompts short and check for clipped labels; on a small screen, pan the preview or use Expand.

Separate collecting ideas from choosing actions
During collection, one facilitator can share the screen and type suggestions under the relevant branches. Capture alternatives before evaluating them. This editor does not provide simultaneous live collaboration, voting or automatic fact-checking.
During review, ask which suggestions overlap, what evidence is missing and what constraints matter. Moving a node closer to another branch does not regroup it. Add it to the intended branch and verify the copy before removing the original; keep a separate record of decisions and open questions.

How do I brainstorm with a map?
Start with a focused question, collect possibilities under a few named branches, then review them together. Separate suggestions from facts and decisions. The fictional book-swap example below shows a capture-and-review workflow; the tool does not assess feasibility or decide what to do.
Can I use it as a sticky-note board?
Yes. Board shows one card per branch, with that branch's ideas listed inside it. It is not a separate sticky note for every idea. Switching to Split, Tree or another layout keeps the text and branch membership, while resetting manual positions.
Can my team brainstorm on it together?
Not live: one person edits at a time. A common setup is to share your screen in the meeting and type ideas in as people call them out, then download the PNG for everyone.
Will choosing a starter replace my work?
Yes. A starter replaces the central topic, branches and ideas, and resets their positions. Choose it before entering your own brainstorm. Changing the layout or canvas size keeps the text but resets positions; changing the theme repaints branch colors.
Does dragging an idea move it into another group?
No. Dragging changes its position; the connector still belongs to the original branch. Add the idea under the destination branch and check it before removing the original. The structure is topic, branch and detail: Add idea on a selected detail creates a sibling, not a deeper level. Removing a branch also removes its details.
Why is part of a long idea hidden?
Labels have limited visible space and long text can end in an ellipsis. Use short prompts, keep detailed discussion separately, and inspect the downloaded image. Preview zoom changes the viewing scale, not the amount of text a label can hold.
Which exports are free?
Editing and standard PNG download are free without signup or a watermark. SVG, HD PNG at 2×/3×/4× and MP4 use Pro access or an active export pass. There is no direct PDF download in this tool. A downloaded image is not an editable saved map.
How do I reopen an editable brainstorm?
Use Save and sign in when prompted. Free accounts can keep up to three saved designs; use Open saved designs to reopen one. Downloading a PNG alone does not save the editable design to your account.
