What is a pyramid chart used for?

What's the difference between a pyramid and a funnel?
Both show stages of decreasing size. A funnel emphasizes drop-off and conversion (top-down flow). A pyramid emphasizes hierarchy and importance (bottom-up structure). Use a funnel for sales/conversion data and a pyramid for categories or priorities.
How many levels should a pyramid have?
3 to 6 levels works best. Each level should be visually distinct — too many levels makes the pyramid cramped.
Can I combine a pyramid with other widgets?
